About Us
Kakeibo “ 家計簿 “ is a Japanese savings method, roughly translating to “household financial ledger”.
Kakeibo was originally developed to help get control of your budget and make you aware of your spending habits, which we believe every dental practice owner should do, especially when it comes to the amount they spend on supplies and services. Think of us as advocates for a healthy dental-household ledger!
Our founders are independent, wet-fingered practicing dental professionals just like yourself.
Frustrated by the creeping costs of doing business when operating solo, and the all-too-frequent appearance of expired and excess inventory, we set out to create a solution.
With experience working in over 100+ clinics (ranging from solo, satellite, startup, group, multipractice and temp/locum setups), we’ve seen everything when it comes to wasted supplies and poor inventory management - and we want to change that.

FounderA strong background in the startup and practice management world, coupled with a family background in industrial project management was the perfect blend of factors to kick start solving an important need in our dental community! As founder of the BC Dentists Collaborative Network group with over 1000 dentist members, Dr. Kollen noted a sense of angst in the Canadian dental world, amplified by factors like staff shortages, inflation, and politics, all resulting in margin compression for the smaller, every-man dentist. Kakeibo Dental Network is his mission to help keep Canadian independent dentistry thriving.

Jamie brings well over a decade of experience in the hygiene world. Early in her career, she picked up many weekend temp shifts to help pay off student debt. This afforded her the chance to operate in dozens of clinic environments, and be exposed to many different inventory management systems, from pen and paper setups, to intricate barcode systems.
